No pressure, pressure is when you are fighting in war or fighting for your life. I don't understand the point of racing when the results are middle school times while still in your 30's. If anything the poster puts pressure on himself by saying "I feel great - I ran 11.0 in workouts" then goes to the meets and run 11.8 because he broke a finger nail etc. That's the problem with keeping an online journal - you add pressure on yourself esp when you tell everyone how great things are going. Do or Die year for Chris - he's all in!!!!

Reread my journal and quote and or give examples of me ever saying my times at practice are xx and I go to the meet and run slow. When I run slow at practice I run slow at meets. When my times drop at practice they drop at meets. very simple. Every injury i have had the past few years was from to much volume.........which is your cup o tea, but not me anymore. I have never made an excuse for running slow at a meet. you got me confused

Come on man, your journal is over 15yrs old. I'm not searching for anything when I know what I saw. That's the difference between me and others who are offering you training tips - I have been following your training for a long time. There were several posts when you felt great in training and ran good training times then come meet day there was issues (meet director - tight calves etc). I wish any athlete the best who puts in the time but at some point using the same hammer that's not getting the job done is crazy.

I'll tell you a lil story.. Many years ago when Evan was trying to turn his career around he made the decision to forgo the rest of his outdoor season, I was the one telling him to keep going etc. He packed it in, got elite therapy and did some training with Carl and his career took off. I believe he ran 10.3 or so after spending many years running 11s. Sometimes the hardest decisions are the best one's.

I'm not giving you any advice that I wouldn't use for myself.

I hear you, but not packing it in. If anything Id train straight through everything including meets. Training just to train is boring as shit to me.

Another workout i like late outdoors:
    2x30 block starts
    2x30 overspeed
    2x60 blocks
    1x120 standing
    2x50m speed bounds
    5x10 hurdle hops

I'm throwing out ideas for next year - it's not a magic workout but really helped me along the training process. I remember for my phase 3 training (between spring/summer season) I went through an intense block of training for about 6 weeks. I played around with some overspeed and I had my wife as a training partner or back in Minnesota I would either use my training partner or the football goal post.
