Thread: Master Coach Charlie Francis Oly / What do you think?

Listened to the podcast and it was disappointing to hear Stu’s comments about Charlie. Often wonder what his motivation is in saying such things. It contradicts the whole Zen thing in my mind. Not sure I ever heard Master Po or Master Kahn from the tv show “Kung Fu” dump on anybody.

Just read a tweet by Latif Thomas in which he used the word “heuristic” which made me chuckle a bit.

In the heats, he thought there was a false start, so he slowed down and then re-accelerated. In the final he pulled his hamstring towards the end of the bend. Itís quite possible that what happened in the heats contributed to the injury in the final. It was also raining during the final. He made the mistake of finishing the race (in 45s), which means he ran some 120m on an injured hamstring, which will probably slow down his recovery.

oh ok. I'll catch up with the 1st rounds of the 200m now.
If Webb or at least ....the others don't get the Q time to make it to the WC he may still have a shot at it, right? bc if Lyles wins the Diamond League 200M, then he gets a pass.
What if none of them get it?
    What a mess! Sheesh! lol

I couldn't find the race. anyone?

I just watched the 400M. Great race but the camera angles were ridiculous. All five of them. Just as Leeper is making his move on the field in the backstretch the camera changes angles to Norman who's not even leading the race. Then the camera angle on the turn is ....F'd up. A flipping Circus act, man. Kerley nailed it but we really only get the last 120 of his race thanks to all the focus on one man and the out of touch camera ppl.

Not 100% sure but since none of the others has qualifiers I think Rowe moves up to the third qualifier due to his time earlier in the the year. Bednarek would go (if healthy enough to do so) as you said if Lyles wins the DL. I believe there is no chasing of marks at this time as the qualifying period has passed.

IAAF site has the 9th of Sep.

But maybe each Country calls it when they see fit.

Yeah I think our WC pre championships qualifying period was up around July 21st and of course someone could get the mark at the meet but no one, that I am aware of, is permitted to chase marks post USATF.

    Looks like you are correct.

    Maybe make an exception.

Not sure why they do that (not allowing athletes to chase marks) other than to solidify the preparations for anyone who is going to know exactly how to plan their training and meets going forward. Of course with Bednarek if he could even be healthy enough to train and compete would not know if he was in until/if Lyles wraps up the DL.

It's disappointing wanting to see a race the the ppl behind the camera are not paying attention.
