    Re: 9.93

To me, the big news from this meet was that Trayvon Bromell ran a wind legal 10.04, his fastest time since 2016.

    Re: Gw501516

The longest fast Iíve ever done was 5 days. It was not a complete fast, but limited to about 200 cal of fat and protein per day. It helped a lot with my achilles tendinopathy, and I obviously lost...
  3. Re: IAAF introduces new transgender rules at Doha council meeting

The IAAF would require you to lower your testosterone to female levels for at least 12 months before competing in this case, which I think is fair enough. The problem lies with the increasing number...

Ilya Ilyin, who was undefeated during his Olympic weightlifting career until this year, took nine months off from specific training after his Olympic gold medals.

    Re: RB34 Training Journal

Maybe talk to whoever is in charge of the track and ask for permission to use it as you are preparing for world masters championships and have nowhere else to train.

It is banned by WADA and potentially dangerous. Has been shown to cause cancer in animals.

    Re: Standards to Compete

No need to apologise. I have no issue with differing opinions. Considering the fact that many masters athletes compete in multiple events, three rounds can be quite tough. I train for sprints, long...

    Re: Standards to Compete

I think performance standards for international competitions would be appropriate, as it would make them smaller and thus easier to organise. The number of competitors per event from each country...

    Re: Sprinting While Sore

Adductor Magnus kicks in when the squat is fairly deep. You donít need to squat that deep for sprinting. Quarter squats and half squats actually help your speed more than full squats.
  10. Re: Master Coach Charlie Francis Oly / What do you think?

In the heats, he thought there was a false start, so he slowed down and then re-accelerated. In the final he pulled his hamstring towards the end of the bend. Itís quite possible that what happened...
  11. Re: Master Coach Charlie Francis Oly / What do you think?

Unfortunately, he seems to have already finished the season with an injury sustained in the 200m final. It looked pretty bad, and I doubt he will race again this season.

    Re: Master Sprint Times

I found it very motivating to realise that I could be competitive at an international level and break state and possibly national records when I started competing in masters athletics. Without that...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

I would cut out the grass running. Running on soft surfaces aggravates achilles tendinopathy. Mine comes back whenever I run on grass, especially soft grass. If I remember correctly, another member...

Re: Coming back from chronic achilles

I experienced the same with regards to grass. The softer the surface, the more likely it is to cause achilles issues.

    Re: RB34 Training Journal

I'd be very careful with sleds or other acceleration work, as this causes the greatest stretch and thus strain on the plantar fascia due to the combination of ankle dorsiflexion and toe extension...

    Re: RB34 Training Journal

I had pulled my right hamstring in training and did too much plyometric work and stair runs on concrete while recovering from this injury for my left foot to handle.

Pain was worse in the morning...

    Re: RB34 Training Journal

Itís unlikely that plantar fasciitis will heal to the point that you can sprint again without therapy. I found a Strasburg sock to be quite helpful. I also did gentle stretching of the fascia on a...

Mine? I’m not training for powerlifting. Last time I did was in 2012. I’m focussing on LJ and a bit of TJ now. Aim is to break the M35 Queensland (state) records before turning 40 in June. I...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Yes, bone broth would be a good option for a fast. Make sure you stay active and exercise while fasting, as you may otherwise lose some muscle rather than just fat. I would also suggest a high dose...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Yes, the anti-inflammatory effect of the fast is largely due to the caloric deficit, although the high amount of Omega 3 and low amount of Omega 6 fatty acids may have also helped. The purpose of the...

It’s also important to continue exercising while you’re fasting, as this will protect your muscles from being digested as fuel. I actually did five days of fasting followed by one day of normal...
