    Re: QUESTION on volumes

I had to get back to work so just a short response the other day, T-Slow kindly filled in the gaps. You can make good improvement working at 50% volume and 2 sessions per week of intensive work and 2...

    Re: QUESTION on volumes

Make sure you include starts prior to any speed work. Remember though that the volumes CF stated were based on elite level athletes who had access to massage twice daily and were full time athletes.

    Re: Relentless Ambition

Kim Collins reportedly does not lift weights, so he has more space in the energy envelope to utilise, if that makes sense.

    Re: Relentless Ambition

I left bounding out of my programmes years ago due to the injury risks. I stick with vertical 2 footed jumps leading into drops from a low box with fast contact off the ground and landing on another...

    Sticky: Re: Lactate Threshold Training

Hi ESTI have you considered that there might not have been enough recovery between the 300m time trial and the race modelling session, having said that the warm up did seem a bit strange, but I know...

    Re: World Championship

Some things in sport don't change, Bolt wins 3 golds and GB Men screw up in the 4x100m, normal service is resumed folks.

I think she knew there was a bit of a problem but decided to go with it and take the chance, it looked to me that she held back a bit coming out of the blocks, which flattered SAFP a bit on the bend....

Hi Bold, I'm confused (doesn't take much) are you referring to 3 runs over 280m, dropping down to 150 if you hit a pb or am I way off the mark.

Re: Bolt strikes in Moscow 100m Final

Who can say who would have done what had they been there, what we can be sure of is there would have been a lot more pressure on Bolt, had Blake and Gay had been there. As for Powell would he have...

Re: Need some help with GPP.

Good comment by RB34, I was working with an intensity limit of 20m. I daresay we could add the 3rd set if I dropped the IL to 10m or might even get away with 15m. I agree with lr1400 re volume,...

    Re: Dwain Chambers Q & A

Trippling involves very little knee movement and emphasizes rolling from heel to toe, hard to describe. Looks like Robles uses a low knee lift A drill, the 2nd drill looked like stiff leg dollies but...

I reckon the rain accounted for around 0.10 being added to the times, but I get the point, decent race but certainly not a classic.

Re: Need some help with GPP.

Hi, yes I would say so, my athletes tend to do 2x4x60m, we did try 3 sets at one stage, but they were trashed afterwards and struggled 48 - 72 hours later so not worth the extra set. I have used...

Re: Need some help with GPP.

Hi kwave, there are quite a few posts about using sleds on the forum, but as a rule of thumb no slower than 10% of your unresisted 30m time is a good guide. I use car tyres rather than sleds, 3-4kg...

Re: One Step Forward and 2 back.....

Good news, try getting some physio felt or thin foam for the heels of your shoes, make sure they are cut to the right shape. Try wearing them for a while to see if you feel a difference walking...

Re: One Step Forward and 2 back.....

Inflamation usually takes 10 days to settle down, which by my reckoning will be this Saturday. Find a good physio who is skilled at assessing injuries, so many athletes go down the wrong route of...

I quite agree re first point, I prescribed them in the SPP not comp phase. We only used them for a 3 week block of intensive training followed by an easy week, then unresisted running for the rest of...

Re: Resisted accelerations in comp period

Not so bad thanks, I'm going back a few years now, I had a crop of well conditioned athlete's and wanted to take them up a level. We used car tyres, 5kg for the guys and 3-4 kg for the females. I...

Re: slow first 200m of season

There's good advice from CF on the site about how to run the 200, try a search. I advocate coming out of the blocks fast but not quite as agressive as in the 100m in order to prolong the acceleration...
