    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Mine? I’m not training for powerlifting. Last time I did was in 2012. I’m focussing on LJ and a bit of TJ now. Aim is to break the M35 Queensland (state) records before turning 40 in June. I...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Yes, bone broth would be a good option for a fast. Make sure you stay active and exercise while fasting, as you may otherwise lose some muscle rather than just fat. I would also suggest a high dose...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Yes, the anti-inflammatory effect of the fast is largely due to the caloric deficit, although the high amount of Omega 3 and low amount of Omega 6 fatty acids may have also helped. The purpose of the...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

This was three weeks ago. The tendon pain has not come back since then, and my training results are better than before the fast. I’d love to hear from anyone who tries this, as I’m trying to convince...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

It’s also important to continue exercising while you’re fasting, as this will protect your muscles from being digested as fuel. I actually did five days of fasting followed by one day of normal...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Inflammation is not necessary for survival, so it gets shut down when you’re in a severe caloric deficit. That’s one of the reasons why fasting is so beneficial for so many chronic conditions, most...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Iíve been having achilles and other tendinopathies on and off for the last 10 years. I recently found out by accident that a four day fast (only consuming 200-300 calories per day consisting of fat...

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

Interesting. Will Claye’s 200m indoor PB is 21.77, which would probably be a low 21 outdoors, but he has only run 200m a couple of times. He’s run the 100m regularly and his PB here is 10.64, which...

Also, quite a few of the very best horizontal jumpers have run world class 200m (Carl Lewis, Mike Conley, Larry Myricks) or even 400m times (Christian Taylor).

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

Thanks for your comments. I think I will work up to including a couple of 120s in my training once a week.

With regards to strength training, I’m not saying that I want to max out in the gym when...

Do you need SE for speed development

    Hi there!

Does anyone have any insights or experience regarding the question as to whether SE work is required to develop maxV? I'm currently only interested in LJ and 60m, so don't really need SE...

    Re: My Masters Training

Interesting. So you are doing flying sprints down-hill? How many and over what distance? Also, how did you measure the slope of the hill?

I was also surprised about the amount of overspeed in this program and that A-J was able to survive two overspeed sessions per week with only one day of rest in between.

    However, replacing...

Why not buy second hand? When I first moved into my current house 8 years ago, one of the first pieces of ‘furniture’ I acquired was a second hand gym: squat and bench rack, bench, Olympic barbell,...

Is the tendon sore to touch? If yes, the problem probably lies in the tendon. How is your diet? Are you getting enough calories and enough protein? Are you taking gelatin with Vitamin C before...

Ok. Sounds like you've been doing everything right then. I'm surprised that it didn't fix the problem. That's assuming, of course, that the problem was actually in the achilles tendon in the first...

Yes, and Jamaican sprinting is dead. One man marginally under 10 and no one under 20 this year.

Did you do a proper rehab program for the tendon? Chronic tendinopathies do not heal with rest. They will feel better after a few months of rest, but then will act up again once you start loading...

Re: 5 Mistakes Sprinters Make in Tempo Runs

Usually 2x per week and 1200-1500m per session as a masters athlete. Used to do up to 2500m per session during GPP when I was younger. Speed was around 75% of vmax.
