Re: Most effective type of squat

The article cited by Robin raises a few question marks. The quarter squat group had pre-test the highest deep squat score and the lowest bodyweight. The ratio was 1.50, compared to 1.31 for the half...

    Re: Men's 400m

I watched Wayde run a 200m in 20.2 on the warmup track about an hour before the semifinal. Long beautiful strides, clearly not maximal frequency. Hand timed from first motion so probably equal speed...

Powell did not qualify for the individual 100 in Rio, only as a relay alternate. This 9.92 (wind only just legal at +1.9) was his season's best. Normally he would have run faster this time of the...

Bolt seems to be on track for another gold at the Olympics, mainly because his rivals (Gatlin, deGrasse, Bromell) seem to be off form compared to where they were a year ago this time of the season. ...

I doubt this is going to catch on:
    - Track needs to be deserted
    - Light systems providing pacing have been around, and are more durable, but never caught on
    - You can't see it when you're running...

Elaine needs to fix those poor reaction times. She has now consistently shown to be an equal if not marginally better runner than Schippers.

    Completely bogus.
    No autotiming.
PierreJean estimates the actual time was 9.93-9.97, http://vazel.blog.lemonde.fr/2016/02/29/non-gatlin-na-pas-couru-en-9-s-45/

Any other year Schippers could have rested on her laurels and be very confident of her Olympic chances. But Thompson is a very big threat, in the 100m as well I suspect.

Exactly, the biomechanics are vastly different. You're teaching your body to increase ground contact time, because the deeper you get down the higher you get up.
