Re: World speed summit 5 Tony Holler

While it might not be a conventional warmup with separate types of units within it that most of us are accustomed to as you allude to-no jog, calisthenics, static flex. Dynamic flex./mobility, PNF,...

Re: World speed summit 5 Tony Holler

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread just adding onto Ange's comments.

I did think it was interesting if I recall correctly that he said his athletes don't warmup. However from further...

Agreed. No one had to buy a single item from Charlie yet he was here regularly answering questions to any members of this forum. His books and videos are the best available IMO.

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

And with the rhythm endurance work, flat speed endurance and possibly SE I work from 150m+ getting to those longer runs in a short to long is a long process: something I don't program until probably...

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

For a high hurdler alone with no real secondary-longer event (such as 200m) I think 150m (200m max) is as as far as I'd take them in any long speed endurance/short SE I run-if out to 200m. Anything...

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

It depends upon the level of athlete. I would not have a lower level athlete go out as far as 14H probably 10 or 11 maybe 12. 14H for a male using 8.5 (women's spacing)=124.22 and then possibly a...

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

The 250s we don't do very often as it's a short to long progression and it's something we'd ordinarily do in comp. prep in the middle to late outdoor season but yes some are all out and others we...

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

I usually start with 8H and every session add a hurdle and increase the total distance of the run so there is always a run in distance to close the rep. When no competitions are taking place these...

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

I go out as far as 250m on occasion with my best 110mH though his occasional secondary event is also 200m. If the athlete does not run 200m I'd probably restrict the training to about 150m though...

Re: materials needed to create training program

Thanks Ange! I actually even go back to the original version of the site which I think started in 2001? While all of us have probably have numerous resources we have relied upon Charlie's philosphies...

    Re: 2018 races

Yeah any sponsors would have wanted him to move with Nike likely having the most leverage. I doubt given the success he had with with Mitchell he'd have moved on from him if he did not have to....

Rodgers is having a great season so far. Gatlin's training changed significantly moving from Mitchell to Johnson though he's apparently also coached by a guy who works with Johnson-I think he might...

    Re: 2018 races

Agreed that there is definitely some bad hs track training out there (and collegiate for that matter) that treats all sprinters as if they are preparing for the 400m (if they are lucky) but often...

Definitely and along the way there can be a lot of individual development. Early on I found it more likely they show up and show up on time if for no other reason other than their relay involvement....

Getting more of that team aspect that so many seem to want is why I think an emphasis on relays is so important for kids-not at the exclusion of individual event, however but always keeping that as a...
