    Re: Michael Thomas

I wouldn't call it fake strength but the handle position (when the bar is flipped on the high side) allows the lifter to contort their body to significantly reduce range of motion, turning it into a...

    Re: Michael Thomas

What do you look for in a primary lower body lift?
Surely you can't stress your CNS to the same degree with DB lunges.
But from a lower body muscle activation perspective I would guess the DB...

    Re: Michael Thomas

Why do you say that? Because form breaks down easily at higher loads?
I prefer straight bar deadlifts but don't mind trap bar once in a while, especially with the low handles.

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

My quarantine is almost over and I'm excited to get back into training. I'll get a video up of those starts when I get a chance.

Angela, I'm guessing you train or have a history of training out of...

    Re: RB34 Training Journal

That lifting alone would take me 60 mins
Do those sets include warmup sets?

I find my sprint + lift sessions are never shorter than 2 hours.

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

    Hi Angela,

Do you mean that you'd like me to take a video with those starts or would you like to see me integrating them into my training? I have done starts from my stomach (which I always called...

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

Thanks everyone, no need to get heated. I understand both of your perspectives, you probably see the same issues and just suggest going about solving them differently (drills vs. active thought).

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

How is asking for video analysis from more experienced people a bad question? No one is beating the shit out of me, I appreciate all the replies.

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

I guess I could continue to time with most of those starts, I don't think it would work for falling though.

Single leg triple jump compared to what? I think a lot of those signs may just be a lack...

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

Good idea. I only switched to 3-point starts when I got my Jawku because I've been timing everything. Maybe I should just time once a month or so for testing.

I say that I'm not quad dominant...

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

I never thought I was heel striking but looking at the wear on my spikes, you're probably right. I think I've always generally had weak ankles and maybe they lack the stiffness required. I don't...

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

Yes - I do find that I struggle transitioning between phases. I'm definitely not consistent with when/where I begin my upright sprint position.
In terms of cues, I find my 10m times are best when I...

Re: Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

    Hi Angela,

I'll get a real time video uploaded next time I'm training with a friend.

Those are electronic timed with a Jawku Speed.

    Training is basically:
2-3 days per week of Sprints +...

Form Critique - What Should I Work On?

    Hi Guys,

I'm hoping to get some form analysis from the experienced members. I just started sprint training this summer, at 31 years old, self taught. I've played sports all my life but never...

    Re: Question Regarding Tempo Work

My Celar 5 spikes arrived. The arch is a bit high but they feel amazing.
I'm setting PRs every speed session now. I should get a video up for form critiquing.

Nice job. I assume compared to your previous tests and not PRs?
Is three-fold broad jump done in a bounding fashion or just the combined length of 3 max broad jumps?
