    Re: Master Sprint Times

I agree with you here. There are realities with age, but I do believe a lot of people "check out" too early. Everyone on my club started referring to themselves as old when they hit 30. "I mean,...

    Re: Master Sprint Times

Some local guys are trying to get me to do masters (at age 35!). I can't bring myself to think about age-based competitions when Justin Gatlin just dropped a 9.87 at age 37. Age 40 is the bare...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Yeah, man. I was pretty upset, which probably caused me to dip out of track convos for a while. 9 out of 10 injuries, I know exactly went wrong (e.g., overtaining, fatigued at end of workout, tight...

    Re: Chris6878's journal.

Man, out there racing! Way to grab the W.

This was the first season since I came back to track in 2009 where I didn't get an outdoor time. I pulled up at the mid-point of my first 100m this...
  5. Re: 400 m - Short to Long graph by Charlie Francis

I have a document with both the short-to-long and long-to-short graphs. I contacted Angela, so hopefully we can find a way to get it in your hands soon.

Re: Aaron Brown beats Andre De Grasse

I kid you not: the content of that link is different now than it was the other times I hit. Not sure how Flotrack updates stuff, but every time I hit it earlier today brought me to the Women's NCAA...

Re: Aaron Brown beats Andre De Grasse

Speaking of right decisions, how about Michael Norman sticking with Carolyn Smith-Gilbert as his head coach:

    Re: 9.98

I fully believe in the CF approach, but it is interesting to see how some people respond well to training on the other end of the spectrum. This is my first year not coaching in 10 years at the...

    Re: 9.98

Man, that is an old school workout. They are calling a 52 400m for a 44.7 kid "quality."
  11. Re: materials needed to create training program

Those times were 5 years ago at age 30. I had my first kid at 31 and had a serious hamstring tendon injury in that year, which really put me out of competing for a couple years. Second kid was born...
  12. Re: materials needed to create training program

I would also like to say that Charlie's materials are unmatched. I've bought most of the videos and reading materials and searched this site a ton since joining (10 years now?!). What did Charlie's...

The best part is that the top guys are actually racing each other! None of that ducking crap. That's how you get better!

Re: 5 Mistakes Sprinters Make in Tempo Runs

I just finished an extensive tempo workout about 30 minutes ago. Here is what I did on grass:

3x6x100m; 30 sec rest between reps; 2 min rest between the three sets

My PB is 10.81, while I'm...
  17. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

That would be a great move. Aaron Brown is progressing. Anyone know who is coaching him?

  18. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

Practice PB was 35.40 outside at the time, so the pace was appropriate (75-65% = 47.2-54.5 for a 35.40 best). I never ran them faster than a 49 for extensive tempo.
  19. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

It's hard for me to say without knowing your PBs in those distances. I usually target about 50 seconds for extensive tempo 300s. My PB is 35.14i, so 70% of that is 50.2 (=35.14/0.7). When I did...
  20. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

Nice, man! I do believe it can be valuable if used correctly for the reason you noted: more practice at your craft. I should specify that I have done race modeling work for a block when preparing...
  21. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

No, not since I've coached myself. I did a lot of it in high school and then when i first joined my track club in 2009.
  22. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

The phrase "Trust the Process" can only be used for about half a year in my opinion (during the offseason). Once meets start, the effectiveness of the process will be realized. It's funny you used...

  24. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

I'll admit that I don't know everything done at ALTIS, so I can only respond to what I've seen on Instagram, YouTube, and the like. The biggest issue to me is that a lot of focus is given to...

I fully support my competitors using them.
