    Re: 9.98

I know the feeling. A youth girl I coached the past three years was making steady but consistent progress on an S-L program. 13.3....12.9....12.6... Then I got a job offer I had to take this year....

    Re: 5/3/1 for strength program?

In that case, it may be beneficial for your CNS to eliminate weights from the equation. Or at least modify/minimize it. In a lot of programs I've seen strength sessions done only every 7 or 10 or 14...

Is the speed something emphasized on these singles?
  6. Re: Sprinting with a stick on the back as a viable means to improve mechanics, etc?

I have been referring to a stick/bar resting on the shoulders. I can see where that would work for ABOVE the head, where it may help an athlete get a feel for activating some of the postural muscles...
  7. Re: Sprinting with a stick on the back as a viable means to improve mechanics, etc?

Correct, but in all his literature and video footage I have of him, he never uses sticks though. I don't understand how using a stick would enhance mechanics.

    Re: Training for Soccer

Sounds like he desensitized himself, and once he finally had some recovery and got some of that sensitivity back, he probably wasn't able to handle the shock of the higher level of stimulus that was...
  9. Re: Sprinting with a stick on the back as a viable means to improve mechanics, etc?

Tellez has some drills, like running A's, with hands on the hips. And then the athlete gradually incorporates arm action into the rhythm.

Not sure what the ultimate purpose/goal of the stick or...

Re: Sled vs Hill, which one would you choose?

As kwave brought out, and CF mentions in GPP vid, you don't have to worry about changing your body angle when you are changing the angle of the surface. This is one of the reasons I think hills...

Absolutely. Body knows best. Chances are, if you don't feel like training, you probably shouldn't.

I know on occasion one might feel sub-optimal prior to training, but then sometimes you feel...

Well I'm still working on all of it. Sure, there are sessions where you realize afterward that you shouldn't have ran that next rep. But you learn from it. Part of it too is that I have a Freelap and...

Re: Update on my current training

Been a while since I gave an update on here. A season, in fact.

In January 2016, I ran a PB of 7.15 in a 60m prelim. It was one year to the day where I ran a 7.7. So obviously, a lot of issues...

Having the front block further back like in the rocket start makes it easier to push and you get off the front block faster (foot is further behind COG). And usually the trade-off is that, although...

Flash, I was wondering what you would say the sensations of optimal mechanics are during the start and transition, compared to the "up down" mechanics you described here of max v.
