    Re: Ben Johnson Zurich 1987 9.97 -1.2W

Yes but does pushing for longer / staying more horizontal increase speed of acceleration for most sprinters ? Ben was upright at 10m and still has some of the fastest 30m splits ever.

Nice find, at 10m sprinters relatively much more upright compared to current era.
  5. Re: 12 years ago today - Bolt chases down Powell 9.77 to 9.83 into a -1.3 Wind

In this instance its true but Powell has long history of given up in the final strides and not running through the finish line.

Re: ems and intrinsic foot musculatre

I don't think CF used EMS on the feet, but i might be wrong. I would have look it up but using the device on the feet maybe contraindicated due to the nerve endings in the feet.

Re: utilising gravity vs ground reaction

Could you elaborate on "using gravity as an accelerator " ? Do you mean forward learn during acceleration ?

I watched that documentary , it appears that Linford isn't that politically savvy. Also Seb Coe is a big snake.

Re: Ralph Mann Software or alternative

Take a sample of ten sub 10 sprinters, they all have varied biomechanics. Mann's model with with some and not for others.

My prediction is that she will be out of the medals next year at the OG unless she takes a few months to get on top of the Achilles. Sacrifice some short term profit for long term success.
  12. Re: Master Coach Charlie Francis Oly / What do you think?

Stu makes a lot of outlandish claims which is mostly pseudo-scientific gibberish. I recall watching videos of Andre doing a single-leg rotation with a twist leading up to WC along with some gibberish...

    Re: Doha 2019

Racing on a flared up Achilles is a risky gamble, the chances of structural damage are very low with symptomatic tendons. The major problem will be to settle down the pain, which inhibit force/power....

    Re: Doha 2019

Gatlin came back in 2010, ran 10.09 after a 5 year gap. Those early races were in 10.2s. Shelley still came back to peak form. Compare this to Elaine Thompson who has really tried to run through...

I know a few track/field athletes that have had total hip, knee and or shoulder replacements at a young age. Their coaches are still in the game and hurting another generation of athletes.

    Re: Doha 2019

Angela, how much time would CF advise top level sprinters to have off after a major comp ? I know John Smith gives up to three months. I am sure Gatlin has had such periods off to help recuperate.

Re: Do you need SE for speed development

Limiting training to 60m and jumps and avoiding the lactic energy system won't elicit all the physiological responses to training, neuromuscular, metabolic, hormonal, anabolic responses etc.
