  1. Re: materials needed to create training program

Those times were 5 years ago at age 30. I had my first kid at 31 and had a serious hamstring tendon injury in that year, which really put me out of competing for a couple years. Second kid was born...
  2. Re: materials needed to create training program

I would also like to say that Charlie's materials are unmatched. I've bought most of the videos and reading materials and searched this site a ton since joining (10 years now?!). What did Charlie's...

The best part is that the top guys are actually racing each other! None of that ducking crap. That's how you get better!

Neither De Grasse nor ALTIS are ready to fully admit it: https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/trackandfield/stu-mcmillan-andre-de-grasse-reaction-1.4730395

Re: 5 Mistakes Sprinters Make in Tempo Runs

I just finished an extensive tempo workout about 30 minutes ago. Here is what I did on grass:

3x6x100m; 30 sec rest between reps; 2 min rest between the three sets

My PB is 10.81, while I'm...
  7. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

That would be a great move. Aaron Brown is progressing. Anyone know who is coaching him?

  8. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

Practice PB was 35.40 outside at the time, so the pace was appropriate (75-65% = 47.2-54.5 for a 35.40 best). I never ran them faster than a 49 for extensive tempo.
  9. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

It's hard for me to say without knowing your PBs in those distances. I usually target about 50 seconds for extensive tempo 300s. My PB is 35.14i, so 70% of that is 50.2 (=35.14/0.7). When I did...
  10. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

Nice, man! I do believe it can be valuable if used correctly for the reason you noted: more practice at your craft. I should specify that I have done race modeling work for a block when preparing...
  11. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

No, not since I've coached myself. I did a lot of it in high school and then when i first joined my track club in 2009.
  12. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

The phrase "Trust the Process" can only be used for about half a year in my opinion (during the offseason). Once meets start, the effectiveness of the process will be realized. It's funny you used...

Then we could say he got back to his college time.
  14. Re: Andre De Grasse and Chijindu Ujah With ALTIS

I'll admit that I don't know everything done at ALTIS, so I can only respond to what I've seen on Instagram, YouTube, and the like. The biggest issue to me is that a lot of focus is given to...

I fully support my competitors using them.

    Burn!

"More wickets" is the new "more cowbell" for me.

    Re: 2018 races

My HS track training was very similar to that. I remember running 600s, 400s, and 200s (of course). We also went on a 3-mile run 1-2x per week. It was "400 training" in my eyes. As others have...

    Re: 2018 races

I have no proof to back this up, but here is my guess:

What do a majority of track coaches do still? Overtrain the hell out of athletes at medium speeds. The fastest kids not attending the...

I'm really happy that line wasn't edited out. I literally laughed out loud when studying the video; it was totally unexpected.

    Re: Andre DeGrasse to Altis

When watching the Fundamentals 1 Strength and Speed video today, I found what I believe Charlie's response would be at the 57:56 mark. If any of you have the video, please watch it.

I am referring to split rep SE and/or longer SE runs (e.g., all-out 300). I believe it was in Speed Trap where Charlie credited longer special endurance runs (among other things) for the success of...

I haven't mapped out the plan just yet. The guiding principles will be the same (based on Charlie's vertical integration). I believe I need more volume, though. Not a crazy change, but my speed...

This outdoor season didn't really exist for me. My second kid was born beginning of April. Around that, I had two weeks of hardly any training. Then, a bunch of meets were canceled because of the...
